SCCS UNVEILS NEW EMBLEM

Although Sandusky Central Catholic School has a new logo, St. Mary Central Catholic High School will remain named as St. Mary Central Catholic High School and will have its own brand and identity just as it has since the consolidation.

Sandusky Central Catholic School (SCCS) is pleased to announce the unveiling of the new school district emblem. The new emblem represents the entire Sandusky Central Catholic School District, which is comprised of all of our students from daycare, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade through twelfth grade. Over seven years ago, the three Catholic schools that serve Sandusky and its surrounding communities joined together to form Sandusky Central Catholic School united as one faith community committed to:
  • Following Jesus.
  • Living the Gospel.
  • Forming future leaders.
Sandusky Central Catholic Schools’ high school, St. Mary Central Catholic High School will remain named as St. Mary Central Catholic High School and will have its own brand and identity just as it has since the consolidation. The consolidation allowed for St. Mary Central Catholic High School to maintain its tradition and storied history while simultaneously acknowledging the integral part Sts. Peter & Paul and Holy Angels have played and continue to play in educating our youth in the ways of Jesus Christ. At the same time, an interim school crest was created that combined elements of each of the three schools that now form SCCS. While the interim school crest was never intended to last as long as it has, as of today, it is now obsolete.

Due to events unique to the history of Sandusky Central Catholic School, the brand and identity of the school have at times suffered from some measure of confusion, not only by those in the community at large, but also those within. As with any institution that has been around for 100 years or more, there are several images that have been commonly associated with Sandusky Central Catholic School as well as St. Mary Central Catholic High School. For some it is a panther, for others it may be the block “M”. Whatever your thoughts may be about what images have or should represent SCCS, the new emblem is not to erase or replace traditions associated with any of the former schools that now make up Sandusky Central Catholic School, rather it is intended to build upon an already solid foundation to ensure Catholic education maintains its proper and necessary place in the Sandusky community.

The new Sandusky Central Catholic School District emblem is full of symbolic meaning. The letter C, for Central Catholic appears twice and forms the top of a cross. When you include the white circle with the letter C, it represents a person when viewed from above. The cross in the center of the new emblem is a depiction of four different people holding hands representing Holy Angels, Sts. Peter & Paul, St. Mary Elementary, and St. Mary Central Catholic High School, the four schools that now make up Sandusky Central Catholic School. The centralized location of the cross is reflective of SCCS’s efforts to keep Christ at the center and forefront of everything students, staff, and faculty do. Finally, the three diamonds surrounding the cross represent SCCS’s mission to remain a faith community committed to:
  • Following Jesus
  • Living the Gospel
  • Forming future leaders
Due to the generous support of the three Catholic parishes in Sandusky, our pastors, our current families, alumni, and our friends, Sandusky Central Catholic School is poised to carry on its rich tradition for another century. Sandusky Central Catholic elementary students continue to thrive and are offered one of the areas most extensive multiage programs. Our one campus design is fiscally responsible and makes transitions from grade to grade easier and relatively stress free for our students and their families. SCCS’s high school, St. Mary Central Catholic, remains the area’s only college preparatory high school. The quality of education offered at St. Mary Central Catholic High School is second to none, which is evident in the fact that each year 100% of SMCCHS seniors are accepted into post secondary education programs. At Sandusky Central Catholic School, we take pride in forming future leaders.

Along with the new look for the Panther Magazine, our Investing in Excellence annual fund, the Homecoming celebration and many other positive changes, the new logo is just another step in making SCCS a viable and unified educational institution for the future of our children and the Sandusky community.
